Modelling a Centralized Academic Labour Market: Efficiency and Fairness
نویسندگان
چکیده
A formalization of the centralized French Academic Labour Market in terms of Multi-Agent System is presented. Extensive simulations are used to investigate typical and possible regimes of the system, supporting a sensitivity analysis of the main parameters of the model, such as the applicative pressure and the preference bias towards local candidates. Based on the calibration of the parameters of the abstract model after the information disclosed from official sources, some positive and normative results are presented. Three prototypical settings are distinguished: the equilibrium setting corresponds to the perfect market case, where each candidate interacts with each University; the Humanities and Sciences setting; and the Law and Management setting. The differences between the last two settings concern both the applicative pressure (number of candidate per academic position) and the scope of each candidate (interacting with few or many Universities). Counterintuitive findings, related in particular to the role of the preference biases, are presented and discussed.

Efficiency of Centralized Structures in Data Envelopment Analysis Ratio Models
This paper investigates the centralized resource allocation with centralized structures by using the data envelopment analysis-ratio (DEA-R) models. To this end, it proposes a method to determine the resource allocation of centralized structures such that the ratio of inputs to outputs are minimized.
متن کاملProfit-Sharing Regulation: An Economic Appraisal
The stock market, take-over bidders, executive pay setters, perhaps Stephen Littlechild himself, even last summer’s weather, all seem to have been undermining RPI–X price-cap regulation. Until recently, price-cap regulation was regarded as demonstrably superior to US-style rate-of-return regulation, and regulatory reform in several countries has embraced price-cap regulation. But in Britain, wh...
متن کاملA Bi-level Formulation for Centralized Resource Allocation DEA Models
In this paper, the common centralized DEA models are extended to the bi-level centralized resource allocation (CRA) models based on revenue efficiency. Based on the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker (KKT) conditions, the bi-level CRA model is reduced to a one-level mathematical program subject to complementarity constraints (MPCC). A recurrent neural network is developed for solving this one-level mathematica...
متن کاملAggregate Growth and the Efficiency of Labour Reallocation
We consider the potential importance of labour market efficiency for aggregate growth. The idea is that efficient labour markets move workers more quickly from low to high productivity sites, thereby raising aggregate productivity growth. We define a measure of labour market efficiency as a structural parameter from a matching function. Using labour market data on 15 OECD countries, we estimate...
متن کاملEstimation of the Number of Workers Subjected to the Labour Law
Abstract. Employees include a main part of labour force in each country. This group is so important since a long time ago, International Labour Organization has allocated lots of its indicators such as decent work ones to the group. On the other hand, the employees in Iran are subject to the various employment laws that one of them is the labour law. According to the labour law, the Ministry of...
